Founded in 2019 in Phnom Penh, Evola Cambodia uses Black Soldier Fly technology to address one of the country’s most pressing environmental challenges: food waste. The larvae of the fly efficiently break down organic waste collected from local businesses, converting it into protein-rich animal feed and fertiliser. This circular approach not only diverts waste from landfill but also reduces Cambodia’s reliance on imported animal feed — lowering costs for local farmers and building greater resilience in the food supply chain. Evola has already recycled over 150 tonnes of food waste in Phnom Penh and is targeting 14,000 tonnes by 2027.
As a selected start-up in the Digital and Green Innovation Acceleration Program DGIx Cambodia, Evola took part in targeted trainings, conferences, and networking events with investors.
With support from BMZ and the EU under the Team Europe Action Digital and Green Innovation, Evola has further developed their business by automatizing processes through digital tools.
