A new chapter for the ‘Data to Policy Network’

From global exchange to action: the ‘Data to Policy Network’ is entering its next phase. After bringing together more than 300 policymakers from over 30 countries, the initiative now evolves into the ‘Data to Policy Champions’.
In 2023, UNDP—in partnership with German Development Cooperation and the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC)—launched the Data to Policy Network for Policymakers. It’s goal: establishing a collaborative platform for global peer-to-peer exchange on data-informed policymaking.
Sessions like the 2024 High-level Political Forums (HLPF) side event on gender data and the triangular cooperation dialogue on artificial intelligence (AI) were part of a broader effort. In just over a year, the network brought together 300+ policymakers and data experts from 30+ countries to share insights, tackle challenges, and co-create context-sensitive solutions through global peer exchange.
At the start of 2025, UNDP and its partners took stock of the journey so far, reflecting on key lessons, feedback from participants, and the growing momentum behind the network. This reflection sparked the next step that the initiative is taking: transitioning the Data to Policy Network into a more focused community—the Data to Policy Champions—led by UNDP, deepening in-country engagement and embedding practical support directly within policymaking institutions.
