Africa’s digital economy is growing fast. Data centres, broadband, energy supply, and connectivity are the enablers behind artificial intelligence (AI), e-commerce, cloud services, and digital public infrastructure. But when demand surges the infrastructure needs to keep pace.

A new podcast series by the Digital Investment Facility (DIF), as part of the Data Economy initiative and the Team Europe Action Data Governance in Africa, takes listeners behind the scenes of Africa’s rapidly evolving data centre market. Each episode explores key dynamics driving the sector: from greenfield investments and hyperscale strategies to infrastructure gaps and local data sovereignty.

As data traffic surges and AI adoption accelerates, this series highlights the continent’s opportunity to lead in green digital infrastructure and what’s needed to scale Africa’s digital backbone sustainably and inclusively.
