WSIS+20 High-level Meeting der UN-Generalversammlung
The High-level Meeting of the UN General Assembly on December 16 and 17, 2025, in New York brings together states, NGOs, companies, and other organisations to examine progress in global digital development. The focus is on reviewing the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) – the central UN framework for a people-centred, inclusive, and sustainable information society.
At the event in New York, the UN General Assembly will adopt a joint outcome document of the review process and set the course for the next ten years – with a focus on closing the digital divide, the digital economy, environmental impacts, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In addition to the UN General Assembly session, side events starting on December 15 will provide an opportunity to exchange experiences. Representatives of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) will also take part and present the “Hamburg Declaration on Responsible AI”.
