Data4Policy: Pathways to using data for evidence-informed policymaking
Data has immense potential to support the achievement of the SDGs, climate adaptation plans as well as the green recovery from COVID-19.
It can help governments to
- monitor and measure results;
- improve development programmes and service provision;
- ensure the most marginalized are counted;
- and above all design evidence-informed policies.
Yet, many countries struggle to manage the vast quantities of data they need. Too often, governments work in silos which leads to missed opportunities, interoperability challenges and poor development outcomes.
In this event, Data4Policy – a global BMZ initiative – will present pathways to integrate data mining processes into the policy cycle. Concrete examples from Mexico and Vietnam will set the scene and open the discussion on a framework of how policymakers could leverage data for their decision-making. Participants are invited to share their own experiences, lessons learned and good practices.
